Located in Downtown Anchorage and once considered nothing more then a local fishing hole, Ship Creek has received much more attention lately as the King and Silver Salmon runs throughout the summer have been producing some really nice fish lately. Run from late May through middle of July, the creek becomes full of activity with the return of the mighty Alaska King Salmon, Fishermen line the banks shoulder to shoulder in pursuit of salmon that range from 12 to 40 pounds.

Then, from late June through August, the silver salmon, Coho, return averaging 5 to 8 pounds with an occasional fish in the10 to 12 pound range. Approximately 14,000 to 15,000 silvers return to this smallish creek making for exciting fishing as well as a very fun place to watch and photograph the yearly outbreak of “Alaska Fishing Fever”.
