Air Cargo and Anchorage Air Cargo Carriers

Anchorage International Airport also known as the Ted Stevens International Airport is the main hub for all air freight into and out of Alaska.

Air Cargo Carriers and Office Locations in Anch.

There all here, Alaska Air Cargo, Northern Air Cargo, Fed-X, UPS and a slew of smaller instate carriers. Anchorage lays claim to being the busiest air-cargo centers in the world. Lines of Boeing 747 and Douglas DC-10 cargo jets adorn the tarmac every minute of every day in this World Air Hub. Ted Stevens International is where 24 international and seven domestic freight carriers made 34,000 landings last year. Anchorage is easily one of the world's busiest air-cargo centers as well as refueling locations for these air born freighters. Anchorage is strategically located as a pivotal midway point between Asia, North America and Europe that it will retain most of its air-cargo business.

The rate of cargo landings has increased by more than 9 percent a year since 1991, according to airport records. That growth has produced more than 4,000 jobs, nearly half of the airport's employees, from people who refuel the planes to those who sort and load packages. FedEx alone employs about 1,000 employees in Anchorage, the company's main U.S. gateway for imports from Asia, and it just completed a $38 million expansion of its package-sorting center.

Anchorage serves as a major sorting and transfer hub for Federal Express and Northwest Airlines.
