Jewel Lake in Anchorage Alaska

Jewel Lake is located in south Anchorage off Diamond Blvd and Jewel Lake Road. This 26 acre lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout, land locked salmon, and arctic char.

Bring the family for a fun outing at the Anchorage Municipal Park located on the east shore of the lake on 88th avenue. There are picnic tables, restrooms, a public dock, and a covered area for your use. The park has areas for playing ball or other games and there is usually others enjoying this area during those sunny Alaskan weekends.

Rainbow Trout Fishing in Jewel Lake

Our favorite place to take the family fishing is from the public access on the south side of the lake. Try fishing early in the morning or later in the evening for the best luck. Excellent trout fishing is readly available from the bank along side Diamond Blvd. and from the City Park on Jewel Lake. Canoes and rubber rafts can be used along with float tubes but bank fishing is the most common form of fishing here.

Other lakes worth mentioning are the 20 acre Delong Lake also off Jewel Lake Road and the 24 acre Cheney Lake in north Anchorage between E. Northern Lights blvd and DeBarr Road.

For more information on the stocked lakes in Anchorage see the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game site at Stocked Lakes in Anchorage.
